The Houston Dash suffered a 2–0 defeat to Angel City FC on Sunday night at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The result leaves the Dash six points below the playoff line with two matches remaining in the regular season.

Angel City took the lead in the 52nd minute when midfielder Hina Sugita sent a cross into the box that found Keady Fuller, who finished neatly for her fourth goal of the season. The home team doubled their advantage in the 86th minute through Maiara Niehues, who converted a one-on-one opportunity after a pass from Jun Endō.

Houston goalkeeper Abby Smith was called into action several times, making seven saves to keep the visitors in the game. The Dash came close to equalizing in the 62nd minute when Paige Nielsen’s header from a corner struck the crossbar, but Angel City’s defense quickly cleared the danger. Messiah Bright and Kiki Van Zanten also threatened with efforts on goal, though neither found the target.

Among the Dash’s starters was Nigerian international Michelle Alozie, who continues to represent both the Houston Dash and the Super Falcons of Nigeria. Alozie’s participation in the match underscores the growing presence of African talent in the NWSL.

The Dash will look to regroup and finish the season on a strong note as they prepare for their final two fixtures.
