ALL SET FOR THE CECAFA SENIOR WOMEN’S CCHAMPIONSHIP, UGANDA 2022

8 teams divided into two groups of 4 will take part in the forthcoming CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship in Uganda.

The Championship slated for May 22 to June 5, will be CECAFA’s first tournament in 2022.

Hosts Uganda, have been placed in Group A alongside Burundi, Rwanda and Djibouti. While 2019 runners-up Tanzania is placed in Group B alongside Ethiopia, Zanzibar and South Sudan.

Kenya, who defeated Tanzania in the last edition missed out in the competition haven been suspended by World football body, FIFA.

Uganda and Burundi being the only two qualified teams from the CECAFA Region for  the Women’s AFCON, are expected to use the competition to prepare for the forthcoming tournament in Morocco.
